Dagli esordi figli del punk/hardcore, del noise d'annata e del revival di certi filoni messo in piedi dai Liars, il quartetto di Greenpoint, Brooklyn si è rifugiato in atmosfere dark che dalle avanguardie industrial dei primi anni Ottanta arrivano fino alle sonorità tipiche di The Birthday Party. Presentano il terzo album, "Paradise", ispirato all'immaginario cyber-punk e uscito per l'influente label di Brooklyn Sacred Bones.

Il disco arriva dopo "The Horror" (2012) e "Imps Of Perversion" (2013) I Pop. 1280 prendono il nome dal racconto omonimo di Jim Thompson. Nati nel 2008, iniziano come gruppo punk, ma ben presto esplorano territori noise, industrial e no wave. Noise-rock e synth granitici, carne e macchine, si mischiano per la colonna sonora del post-apocalisse. “In effect they seem to mix together sonic deviations from no wave and new wave, punk and industrial, noise and tribal, electronic and post hardcore, borrowing sounds from The Velvet Underground, Suicide, Joy Division, The Birthday Party, Sonic Youth, Liars and many more.”
